SLOUGH-based leasing broker and fleet management company AFL Group has updated its Fleet Management Made Simple platform with improved functionality and increased API links.
The system update has been under development by sister company Binamic Digital Media since November 2023 and was launched in July this year, but further functionality has been added since.
Already the system is in use by AFL customers and undergoing trials with a couple of other leasing brokers as fleet management becomes an increasingly important area for brokers with the growth of Business Contract Hire.

AFL offers the system to all its fleet management customers – and those who aren’t but take the system anyway. Functions include:
- Fleet damage & related costs
- Maintenance records & related costs
- Fines related to both vehicles and drivers
- Under & over contract mileage reports
- Annual mileage reports with fleet-wide predictions
- P11D reports for simplified compliance
There’s a flag warning system to identify drivers and or vehicles that require attention, plus APIs to both the DVLA and DVSA for items such as driver licence checks.

According to Patrick Fagan, Business Development Director at AFL Group, Fleet Management Made Simple can help fleets manage down insurance costs.
“What the fleet management platform provides is evidence that a fleet is managing down risk in areas such as vehicle damage and grey fleet driver licence checking, for example. We manage one company’s grey fleet that has a driver on nine points, so that driver has been moved to monthly driver licence checks. It’s a valuable tool for fleets to minimise costs.”

Patrick says that a driver app is now being rolled out which requires drivers to ensure tyre tread depth is checked and vehicle inspections are carried out.
Patrick adds:
“It’s the responsibility of fleets to ensure that the equipment supplied to an employee is safe and fit for purpose. This fleet management platform does that. If you do not put in the ‘onion layers’ to keep fleet drivers safe, it will come back to haunt you as a business.”
Patrick says that AFL is also proactively assisting fleets by sending out driver packs from Fleet Packs tailored to the driver fleet – “you need to provide the right equipment to help them towards risk mitigation,” Patrick adds.
