About the winner:
Edinburgh-based loveelectric is on a mission to make electric cars affordable for everyone. Set up in 2021 by early electric vehicle (EV) adopters Steve and Lyndsey Tigar, loveelectric’s aim is for everyone to ‘love their car, love the cost and love the planet’.
Why did loveelectric win best EV broker?
The panel commended loveelectric for setting the bar in EV, calling out its innovative approach and customer feedback:
‘loveelectric is fully committed to the space, exemplified by the 100% EV approach. Very high standard of innovation and demonstrates how it makes a difference with measurable results. Excellent Trustpilot score too, especially given the nature of the sector!’
Sustainability at its heart
In addition to its EV commitment, loveelectric has a strong focus on ESG and a ‘Planet over profit’ mantra. It has pending B Corp status and works with partners including Carbon Neutral Britain and Ecologi to measure and reduce its carbon impact. The business also donates 10 percent of its profits to charities such as Asthma UK’s Clean Air Campaign.
Innovation
Last year, loveelectric launched ‘reloved’, its used EV salary sacrifice programme, which the judges cited as a great example of sector innovation. The business has a digital-first approach, operating a cutting-edge technology platform to simplify the customer journey. The panel commented:
‘loveelectric continues to push the boundaries of innovation on the road to net zero. The ‘reloved’ programme is a great example of that and paves the way for wider, more affordable EV adoption.’
Impressive growth
loveelectric has expanded fast in just three years and now has over 30 employees. The judges said that the business growth trajectory ‘is testament to its recognition of the market opportunity and how it serves it’. The company has been recognised externally, picking up awards such as ‘Sustainability Entrepreneur of the year’ for CEO Steve Tigar at the Great British Entrepreneur of the Year Awards 2023.
“Winning the Broker News EV Broker of the Year 2024 is a significant milestone for loveelectric. In just our third year of operation, we’re thrilled to be recognised by our peers as a leader in the EV broking space.
“With the launch of reloved, the first used EV salary sacrifice marketplace, we are committed to scaling our electric-only offering and supporting an affordable transition to electric cars. Watch this space!”
