Category Winner:
Editor’s Award
About the winner:
Rod is a stalwart of the automotive community, with a career spanning decades. He served as General Manager of FRF Group before founding the lcv group (formerly Low Cost Vans) which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2024. At the start of this year, Rod sold his business to Global Vehicle Group. In addition, Rod has played a key role in shaping industry standards as a member of the BVRLA Leasing Broker Committee since 2016.
Why did Rod Lloyd win the Editor’s Award?
Championing the broking sector
Rod has been a consistent and passionate advocate for the broking community and a member of the BVRLA Leasing Broker Committee for almost a decade. In October, he took on the Chair role for the Committee, at what was to prove a particularly challenging time.
Leading broking through the Court of Appeal ruling
Rod’s leadership of the Committee was tested almost immediately by the Court of Appeal ruling – an event that posed a serious threat to the future of the leasing broker community. Despite being newly appointed as Chair, Rod acted swiftly to safeguard our sector. As explained by Ralph Morton, Editorial Director for Broker News:
‘When Rod took up the Chair of the BVRLA Leasing Broker Committee, he thought about the change agenda he wanted to introduce. But then it all changed for him. Rapidly. I received a call from Rod on the Sunday immediately following the Court of Appeal ruling explaining that the broker world had been turned upside down.
Rod then went to work tirelessly on our behalf to just about right the broker world, working with the BVRLA, FCA and FLA.
That Rod put in so much effort to ensure that leasing brokers can continue to do what they do best, we all owe him a deep gratitude of thanks.’
So, for his most recent and ongoing work for our sector, Rod couldn’t be a more deserving recipient of the 2025 Broker News Editor’s award.
What the winner said
“Obviously it has been a very tough year with everything that went on. And as Chairman of the BVRLA Leasing Broker Committee there continues to be a lot of work to do but I am so pleased to have the support of the brokers around me. I was genuinely touched to get the award, it was fantastic – as well as an absolute shock!”
