Best Innovation in Broking
About the winner:
Established in 2020, The Electric Car Scheme offers electric vehicle salary sacrifice solutions, enabling businesses to provide employees with access to EVs through tax-efficient leasing. Its mission is to make net zero the obvious choice by making electric driving more affordable.
Why did The Electric Car Scheme win Best Innovation in Broking ?
The Electric Car Scheme won the award for its innovative ‘The Charge Scheme’. The scheme enables employees with electric company cars or salary sacrifice cars to save on all charging costs through salary sacrifice – whether that’s at home, work, or using public chargers. It is operated via an app and card and enables drivers to save a quoted 20-50% on charging.
The judges commented:
‘The Charge Scheme is a great example of something which addresses a major concern for employees who cannot charge an EV at home by reducing the cost of public charging. The evidence of charging cost savings across the lease period provided is impressive.’
Taking salary sacrifice one step further
The panel liked The Electric Car Scheme’s fresh thinking in addressing one of the key challenges to EV adoption and the fact that ‘it helps to reduce the cost of all types of charging for EV drivers’. The judges were also impressed that The Charge Scheme can integrate with any existing salary sacrifice scheme.
Making electric driving accessible
The impact of The Charge Scheme was evident in the excellent customer feedback supplied in the award submission. This example feedback demonstrates its significance for one customer:
“The Charge Scheme was an amazing surprise when The Electric Car Scheme shared it with me. I like the app functionality and that it shows me which charge points are available which has made charging simpler.
I was spending a ton on these charge points which made me quite uncomfortable using my car and having to use public charging points. The money saved is very welcome to me at the moment with all increased costs.”
Strong environmental credentials
The Electric Car Scheme’s focus on environmental responsibility was highlighted by the judges who noted that the business has achieved B Corp status this year. The company estimates that its carbon emission savings are equivalent to planting 650,000 trees.
