It was quite something, yesterday’s news that Renault’s Luca de Meo (pictured above) was leaving the company. Having joined in 2020, Luca de Meo led the ‘Renaulution’ that has transformed the French company from below average to excellent, from loss making to record profits.
Its products are first rate – just look at the line of new cars and vans, from the Renault 5 to the new Trafic electric van – that speak volumes about his influence and the renewed confidence in the brand. De Meo is transferring his skills to the luxury market where he’ll hoping to revive Kering, owner of Gucci and Saint Laurent. But for Renault, what next?
