Leasing broker high standards need to rise again

Thousands of motor finance customers will receive compensation under an FCA scheme for firms who failed to disclose essential information. But not the customers of leasing brokers.
Leasing brokers are outside the scope of the redress scheme as the law treats regulated hire differently from regulated credit. (And thanks to the BVRLA, Rod Lloyd and the Leasing Broker Committee for all the selfless work they put in to ensure this was the case.) But that’s a distinction few customers are likely to understand. So now, more than ever, leasing brokers have to display their transparency, customer service and choice guidance to an even higher level than before. It will only benefit the broker sector – and the sector’s customers.
