Within their award entries, Nationwide stood out for demonstrating excellence across a number of areas:
Commitment to innovation – The judges were impressed with Nationwide’s commitment to embracing technology, combined with their focus on customer support. The panel liked the simplicity of the customer journey which can all be completed on-line, allowing Nationwide to run a lean business while still delivering volume. The business has also recently developed a highly innovative custom Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool to offer personalised recommendations to renewals customers.
Overcoming industry challenges – Nationwide has taken a highly pro-active approach to managing the current industry challenges posed by COVID, semiconductor shortages, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The panel liked the initiative Nationwide has shown in developing a specific extensions programme to support customers during a time of uncertainty.
Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) credentials – The judges noted that Nationwide displays real focus on the ESG agenda- including appointing a sustainability champion at board level. The business has a broad range of initiatives in place, including encouraging staff and customers to drive low-emission vehicles and offering free workplace charging.
A strong focus on diversity and inclusivity is evident – embedded through employee training as well as hiring and onboarding best practice.
The judges were also pleased to see support of local community initiatives, such as Crimewatchers and the Salford United Junior Football Team.
