HANDS up who is coming to the BVRLA’s Leasing Broker Conference this week? Good. So far there are 170 attendees – and if you’re not registered now is the time to do it. The BVRLA says there are still places available.
And it’s free to attend for all BVRLA leasing brokers – go here to register if you haven’t already. The date is 06 October, the venue is the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in London.
Right, so what can you expect?
There are some big gun speakers to provide brokers with an overview of the issues that need to be tackled with the new Consumer Duty regulations. They are:
- John Wightman – Ombudsman leader and head of practice (lending), Financial Ombudsman Service. John is giving an overview from FOS on current structure and priorities.
- Stephen Dawson, partner, head of financial services sector, Shoosmiths. Stephen will provide a broker guide as to the top priorities to meet the new regs.
- Shashi Maharaj, director of legal and membership, BVRLA. Shashi will detail the support BVRLA is providing to brokers and some of the key outcomes from the Consumer Duty deep dive webinars and the discussions the BVRLA has been conducting with the FCA.
This will be followed by a panel session led by Paul Parkinson, CEO of Synergy Car Leasing and chair of the Leasing Broker Committee (above left), featuring Andy Bruce, CEO of leasing broker Fleet Alliance (above right), along with speakers Stephen Dawson and Shashi Maharaj.
The day starts with registration from 0930 and ends at 1545 with a drinks reception courtesy of Ebbon Group.
Event sponsors are Broker News funder partners Alphabet and Leasys, plus Ebbon Group, MotorLease, QV Systems and Trakm8. Broker News is the media partner of the event.
