FLEET Alliance Appointed Representative Chris Rowthorn is putting Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) policy at the heart of his business.
Based in Cardiff, the former MotoNovo Director, who joined Fleet Alliance as an AR in February this year, has signed up to the Business Wales Green Growth Pledge.
The Business Wales Green Growth Pledge is a voluntary commitment that helps companies embed practical and measurable sustainability actions as part of a community assisting Wales in the transition to a low-carbon future.
The actions by Chris align with the overall direction of travel taken by Fleet Alliance, which has become a carbon neutral company.
“Signing the Green Growth Pledge isn’t a badge – it’s a contract with Welsh businesses and communities. My goal is to turn Fleet Alliance’s carbon-neutral expertise into practical wins for every client, from the first EV they lease to the last tonne of CO₂ they cut.”

What does the Green Growth Pledge mean?
The Green Growth Pledge offers a framework and a starting point for those participating firms to select tailored actions. These range from cutting business-travel emissions to switching to 100% renewable electricity – and to report progress publicly.
Among the actions suggested in the pledge are:
- Working with responsible suppliers
- Efficient transport & logistics
- Using land, energy & water wisely
- Measuring the impacts of your business
- Improving the well-being of staff and your local community
- Using appropriate packaging
- Preventing waste & pollution
- Reviewing products & services
- Promoting sustainable best practices
How Chris plans to engage with the Green Growth Pledge
Chris says he will be involving his SME fleet customers in lower-carbon mobility choices while holding himself accountable to national sustainability goals. He plans to:
- Promote zero- and low-emission vehicles to SMEs through Fleet Alliance’s multi-funding panel and salary-sacrifice products.
- Benchmark client fleets against pledge targets (for example, percentage of EVs, average CO₂ per vehicle) and report with annual progress updates.
- Champion Welsh supply-chain partners – installers of workplace charge points, renewables suppliers and driver-training providers – to keep the economic benefits local.
- Share best practice at Business Wales networking events and on Fleet Alliance’s Sustainable Mobility Hub, creating an open knowledge loop between pledge members and the wider fleet community.
Within the next 12 months, Chris plans to help at least 10 client fleets convert 25 % of their cars or vans to battery-electric or plug-in hybrid powertrains, saving an estimated 300 tonnes of carbon dioxide.
As well as being a carbon neutral company, Fleet Alliance was recently named Best SME Fleet Broker in the 2025 Broker News Awards.
