GLASGOW-based leasing broker and fleet management business, Fleet Alliance, is leading the charge towards a sustainable future by achieving carbon neutral status. This accomplishment comes as the result of a dedicated effort to implement a range of green initiatives that have effectively reduced their carbon footprint to zero.
Fleet Alliance’s journey to carbon neutrality involved a significant reduction in corporate energy consumption, achieved in part by switching to a renewable energy supplier and embracing energy-efficient practices.
Furthermore, Fleet Alliance transitioned its entire company fleet to electric vehicles in 2021 and implemented a zero-emission policy for employee salary sacrifice cars. These initiatives, along with various smaller efforts, resulted in an impressive 90% reduction in the company’s carbon emissions.
To offset the remaining 10%, Fleet Alliance strategically invested in three carbon offsetting schemes aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. These schemes, chosen by staff members, have effectively neutralised 28 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
"It's not a legal requirement for our company, but we believe carbon neutrality is essential to our business as a sustainable mobility provider. Put simply, we have to turn the clock back on carbon emissions."
Andy Bruce, CEO of Fleet Alliance Tweet
Bruce highlights the importance of corporate carbon neutrality in supporting the UK government’s 2050 Net Zero targets and emphasises the role of the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate in driving the transition to electric vehicles.
Despite achieving this significant milestone, Fleet Alliance remains committed to further reducing its environmental impact. The company plans to incorporate Scope 3 emissions into its reporting, addressing indirect emissions across its value chain.

“Our efforts to reduce carbon do not end here as we plot our path towards net zero,” says Bruce (pictured left). “We are very proud of what we have achieved to date, but we believe there is still more to go at and we would heartily encourage other companies in achieving their own goals towards carbon neutrality.”
Fleet Alliance’s commitment to sustainability serves as an inspiring example for other businesses in the sector and demonstrates the tangible impact of proactive environmental initiatives.
