THE government is consulting on its requirement to bring forward the cessation of new petrol, diesel and hybrid car and van sales from 2040 to 2035 – or earlier if that is deemed possible.
This follows the Prime Minister’s announcement on February 04, 2020.
The consultation relates to new car sales – owners of existing petrol, diesel and hybrid cars and vans will still be able to use these vehicles and buy and sell them on the used market, according to the Department of Transport communication.
Among the issues that the government wants to hear views on are:
- the phase out date
- the definition of what should be phased out
Leasing brokers interested in adding to the consultation should do so no later than Friday May 29, 2020.
