THE government has announced that it will not be going ahead with changes to the VED regime for vans. This will also apply to motorhomes.
The statement was made in a Tax policy update on 12 November.
From April 2021, the government’s plan was to introduce a CO2 based taxation system for vans to mirror the existing passenger car regime.
However, the government decided to shelve the plan “to avoid distracting the automotive sector and businesses more widely from the challenges they currently face in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The BVRLA’s Toby Poston, reacting on LinkedIn, said that the existing standard rate of £265 would continue.
