WELL that went past in a flash. We have just marked the third anniversary of Women in Broking.

Broker News launched Women in Broking back in June 2022 with a feature on Rivervale’s Jaymie Stanbrook. The aim? To raise the profile of the brilliant women in our sector, showcase the breadth of roles available, encourage more women into the industry, and aim to get more balance on the boards of companies involved in the leasing broker sector.

Three years in, we thought this was the perfect time to take a moment to reflect on the journey so far.

35 features and counting

Since launching, we’ve featured a total of 35 brilliant women from across the broker community – including brokers, suppliers and funders.

Each month we’ve showcased women in a range of roles – from compliance, to sales, marketing and operations.

We’ve interviewed those at the top of their profession – like Shane Coomber MD of Leasys UK and Alpha Contracts’ MD Lynette Randall, as well as rising stars such as Lydia Pemberton of Rivervale Maxus.

Women in Broking Live! Events

We consistently heard there was a lack of female networking opportunities in the sector. So, in response, we created our in-person Women in Broking Live! events last year (men are also welcome) – pictured below.

Cafe Murano Covent Garden

Last July we held a networking lunch in London’s Cafe Murano with keynote speaker Alice Altemaire, the then CEO of Mobilize FS.

We followed up this May by going regional for an event hosted by BMW Partridge in Hampshire, featuring an inspiring talk from ex BMW Exec Andrea Holland (below). Stay tuned because there’s more to come! We’re currently planning an H2 event.

Marking International Women’s Day - BVRLA Podcast & advice broadcast

International Women’s Day (IWD) has been a key moment for us to amplify female voices in broking.

Last year, our Women in Broking committee came together for a special BVRLA podcast for International Women’s Day (IWD) – offering insight on what it’s like to be a female working in broking and sharing career advice.

And we’ve continued the IWD conversation on the Broker News LinkedIn page featuring special snippets of valuable career advice from our interviewees.

A message on Women in Broking from the Editor

‘‘Broker News is really proud to be three years into Women in Broking - it is so important to continue to raise the profile of women in our industry. I’d like to say a big thank you to the team at Drivalia for its ongoing feature support, plus our event partners - BMW Partridge, Fleet Alliance and MiPA. We are also hugely grateful to our brilliant Women in Broking committee for volunteering their time, as well as every single person who has got involved, been interviewed, attended the events and engaged with our online content.’’

New for 2025 - mentoring

You’ve told us that great role models can make a huge difference to your career journeys and we want to facilitate that.

We’re now making mentoring part of Women in Broking. Two of our highly experienced Women in Broking committee members – Sam Ward and Laura Muir have volunteered to be mentors. They are offering one-on-one coaching slots at our events and online –  to find out more, please contact Laura Lerwill.
