LEASING brokers were firmly in the spotlight at the annual BVRLA dinner held at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House London on Wednesday night (04 March 2026).

Both Martin Brown, the Executive Chair of Fleet Alliance, and Rod Lloyd, formerly of the lcv group and former Chair of the BVRLA Leasing Broker Committee, were both given the highest accolade of the Freddie Aldous Award.

Also winning the BVRLA Learning & Development Award was Rivervale, with The Electric Car Scheme’s Sarah Giles nominated for the Business Builder Award.

Toby Poston, CEO of the BVRLA, told the audience:

“Freddie was the BVRLA Honorary Life President who passed away in 2017. Each year, we recognise his legacy. It is our chance to celebrate the efforts of remarkable colleagues that have shown selfless and sustained leadership through the support they have provided to the BVRLA and its work.

“One part of our community that has grown in its stature, its credibility, and its impact over the last decade or so is our leasing brokers.

“We want to recognise two of them.

“One of tonight’s recipients has been there from day one. Making the case, bridging the gap, and pulling the sector forwards through their work on our broker committee, as a trusted confidante to BVRLA colleagues, and as a very public representative for the sector. If ever there have been occasions in the past where people have questioned the broker sector’s professionalism or willingness to collaborate for the greater good, this is the man we would point to as a positive example.”

That man was Fleet Alliance’s Martin Brown, who stepped up to the stage to receive the Freddie Aldous Award (pictured above with Toby Poston on the left).

Poston went on to say:

“More recently we saw the sector firmly in the firing line as motor finance came under the regulatory and legal spotlight. That situation rolls on but tonight’s second recipient did more than any other to ensure that broker members had the support and advice they needed to get through some very dark times.

“He committed exceptional time, energy and passion to not only make the case for brokers, but to also field their calls and concerns. He made a deliberate choice to support others in the industry when he could have very easily chosen to focus on his own personal responsibilities.”

The second recipient of the Freddie Aldous Award was Rod Lloyd, who unfortunately was unable to make the evening due to personal circumstances. Rod was previously honoured with the Editor’s Award at the Broker News Awards 2025.
