LEASE deal aggregator site Leasing.com has published its 2025 Insights Report for cars and vans, revealing how leasing demand shifted over the last 12 months.

Drawing on Leasing.com enquiry data, the report shows a more competitive market pushing monthly payments down for a second year, alongside a major shift in fuel preferences as EVs and hybrids take a growing share of demand.

Hybrid enquiries more than double as petrol and diesel demand falls

More drivers are choosing electric and hybrid vehicles over traditional petrol and diesel car models.

  • Petrol car enquiries fall to 41.0% (down from 50.0% in 2024)
  • EV enquiries climb to 34.1% (up from 26.2%)
  • Hybrid enquiries jump to 22.8% (up from 10.7%)
  • Diesel drops to 2.1% of car enquiries (down from 6.4%)

This growth reflects both the expanding availability of EV and PHEV models and the increasing adoption of low-emission vehicles across the market, as more manufacturers introduce electrified options.

Leasing gets cheaper again as monthly rentals fall across personal and business deals

The cost of monthly leases fell across the board compared to 2024, with personal (-6.3%) and business deals (-10.3%). The cost of leasing has continued to decline over 2024 and 2025, showing it’s the most stable way to access a new car.

Drivers choose lower-mileage leases in 2025

Drivers increasingly opted for lower-mileage lease agreements in 2025, with 5,000 miles staying the most popular mileage band, accounting for 35.4% of enquiries, up from 31.5% in 2024.

Shorter leasing terms also continued to gain traction, with 24 month agreements the most popular duration, representing 40.3% of enquiries, up 1% year on year.
