USED vehicle data business Marketcheck has reported that January 2026 was the second strongest month ever recorded for used electric vehicle sales, with 22,111 units sold across the UK.

According to Marketcheck, this almost surpasses the previous record set in August 2025, when 22,200 used EVs were sold, and represents a dramatic increase compared to earlier years. In January 2024, just 10,135 used EVs were sold, meaning sales have more than doubled in two years. The figures also represent a strong rebound from December 2025, when just 14,632 used EVs were sold.

Alastair Campbell, Marketcheck UK, commented: “January 2026 demonstrates real progress for the UK’s used EV market, with the second highest number of vehicles ever sold in a single month. Just two years ago, monthly sales were barely half of what we’ve seen in January.

This surge reflects growing consumer confidence, improving affordability, and a rapidly expanding supply of second-hand electric vehicles. Used EVs are no longer a niche purchase – they are now firmly established as a mainstream option for UK car buyers.”
