EPYX has announced the commencement of pilot programmes for the updated “New Evolution” version of its 1link Service Network platform, used by the fleet sector for SMR.

The “New Evolution” platform represents a complete architectural overhaul, according to epyx, transitioning the platform to a cloud-based, event-driven framework. The existing system has been in use for the past 21 years.

James Thurtle, Vice President – UK and International Product Management at epyx, emphasised the strategic necessity of the upgrade, stating: “While our current platform has been continually enhanced, its core infrastructure has reached its limits. The ‘New Evolution’ platform introduces a new architecture, enabling us to deliver innovations like a refreshed user interface, streamlined job sheet journey, and improved driver booking process.”

The transition, likened internally to “fixing a plane while flying,” is being managed to ensure uninterrupted service for epyx’s finance, leasing, and warranty clients. A phased rollout, beginning with a select group of fleets and suppliers, including Pendragon Vehicle Management, is underway to gather crucial feedback and refine the platform.

Paul Hickinbottom, Head of Operations at Pendragon Vehicle Management, reported positive initial feedback, noting: “The enhanced layout and work history data have improved processing times and decision turnaround. epyx has been proactive in addressing our feedback, and the transition has been almost seamless.”

epyx plans to expand the rollout throughout the year, contingent on the successful resolution of any emerging issues. “Stability is paramount,” Thurtle reiterated, “and we are pleased with the platform’s performance and the overwhelmingly positive feedback from our initial users.”
