InstaVolt acquires GeniePoint and becomes largest EV charging operator
THE ultra-rapid EV charging network InstaVolt has agreed the purchase of 228 GeniePoint charging locations comprising more than 260 chargers across the UK. The purchase means InstaVolt will be the first EV operator to surpass more than 1,000 sites,
GeniePoint, which is owned and operated by Equans, a provider of sustainable facilities management, has a range of sites spanning Local Authority car parks, motorway, retail and hospitality destinations.
Subject to completion over the next quarter, InstaVolt says it will rebrand and upgrade the GeniePoint locations to InstaVolt over the next 12 months. The upgrade programme includes enhanced grid connections, battery energy storage systems, improved signage and the deployment of BYD ultra-rapid charging technology.
Fleet Assist enhances vehicle service booking
SMR supply chain management company Fleet Assist has launched a new service booking website. The business says it offers its 50-plus customers – which includes leasing broker Wessex Fleet – an improved user experience when booking SMR requirements through its national garage network of 9,300 service points and over 800 mobile service units.
The driver’s booking journey supports a customer’s booking management protocol while leveraging valuable management data to support their SMR work direction policy, said Fleet Assist.
James Elliott, Director of Technology at Fleet Assist (pictured left), added: “Early feedback has been extremely positive with clients saying it’s a step change in making the experience easier and more consistent, while strengthening the digital services already supporting their SMR operations. It is a practical improvement, because small improvements in the booking journey can make a real difference to the overall customer and driver experience.”
Neil Fiorentinos is the new top man at BMW Group
Neil Fiorentinos has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of BMW Group in the UK and Ireland, effective 01 September 2026.
Mr Fiorentinos succeeds David George, who has led the business since January 2024 and is set to take up a leadership opportunity outside the company.
Currently the CEO of BMW Group Central and Southeastern Europe based in Salzburg, Mr Fiorentinos oversees commercial operations across 12 countries. Since joining BMW Group in South Africa in 1994, he has held a number of senior leadership roles across the organisation, including CEO of BMW Netherlands and President and CEO of BMW Group Asia.
