moDel records over 1m vehicle handovers
IT was a record year for moDel, Ebbon’s electronic process for vehicle deliveries: it achieved a 15 % year-on-year growth, recording 1,087,000 vehicle handovers throughout 2023.
Ebbon Automotive said the record results came on the back of new functionality, organic growth, strong fleet sales and new system releases along with strong growth in business contract hire.
During 2023, the platform added 35 new clients: leasing companies, leasing brokers, logistics providers and vehicle manufacturers.
“As moDel is primarily fleet focused, strong fleet sales throughout 2023 undoubtedly contributed to this record result,” said Michael Terry, Ebbon Automotive’s head of commercial – logistics (pictured right).
Michael added that new developments, such as API integration, allowed moDel to integrate more readily with customer systems. “We made eight new releases to both the moDel app and the portal during the year, adapting to changing market conditions and in line with customer feedback. And we fully expect this development rate to continue during 2024.”
Marc Samuel joins BYD as fleet sales manager
Marc Samuel (left) has jumped ship from Nio to BYD, announcing on LinkedIn his appointment as national sales manager for cars at BYD.
Nio, which offers battery swaps for its EVs, has delayed its UK introduction until it has the correct infrastructure in place to offer battery swap (where drivers can exchange a battery that needs charging for a fully charged battery in under five minutes).
BYD, which overtook Tesla at the end of 2023 for EV car deliveries, is backed by US investor Warren Buffet. In the UK it is already in play, selling the Atto 3 SUV, Dolphin hatchback and the slippery shaped Seal saloon.
