Gary Xuereb to lead DMN Fleet Services

GARY Xuereb (above) has been appointed Managing Director of DMN Fleet Services, part of the DMN Group’s vehicle movement, and inspection fleet services business.

In this role, Gary will assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations of this rapidly expanding division, said DMN.

Meanwhile Maria McDonald (formerly Avery) will assume Gary Xuereb’s previous role as Commercial Director. DMN said the appointments  of Xuereb and McDonald followed a period of exceptional growth for DMN Group over the last two years, significantly bolstered by the successful acquisitions of SVL (Specialist Vehicle Logistics) and JLL Vehicle Distribution.

JLL Vehicle Distribution has seen record figures for vehicle movements and revenue in 2025, expanding its client base, contracts, and staff levels. Similarly, SVL’s seamless integration with DMN’s IT systems has provided a major advantage to customers, securing new clients and driving unexpected growth.

The DMN Fleet Services division said it was growing with an increased demand for SMR, bodyshop, and MOTs.

Sarah Shum has been appointed Regional Business Development Manager for leasing company Grosvenor. Her remit is the Midlands.

Sarah joins Grosvenor following leadership roles at Ford Fleet Management to client relationship management and commercial banking roles at Lloyds Banking Group, to corporate business development manager at Lex Autolease.

In her new role, Sarah will be responsible for driving strategic business growth across the Midlands, collaborating closely with clients to understand their needs and offering tailored fleet and mobility solutions that align with their long-term goals.

VRA wants support for used car market

THE Vehicle Remarketing Association (VRA) says the Government must turn its attention to the used electric car sector following this week’s introduction of the Electric Car Grant.

Chair of the VRA,  Philip Nothard, said it was essential the Government recognised that the entry point to EVs for most consumers was a used electric car.

“Yes, it’s a positive move that new electric car prices will be brought down by the new grant but it’s something that will have a limited immediate effect because used car buyers outnumber their new car counterparts by almost five to one,” Philip commented.

“What is really needed – and which the new EV grant scheme only made more obvious – is a similar form of support for the used sector. There are many more buyers in the market for a sub-£20,000 used electric car than a £37,000 new one. A grant of £1,000 on a two-year-old electric SUV priced at £18,000 is arguably much better value than, say, the band two grant of £1,500 on a £35,000 new example.

“There are other possibilities. The used car market doesn’t have to be supported with grants. For example, zero interest loans have been offered in some countries to encourage used buyers into electric cars, which is an option that could cost the government relatively little to adopt.”

In the worst-case scenario, the VRA warned that used car dealers could find that not only was their market not being supported by the Government, but values of used electric cars they already held in stock would be further depressed by new car grants.

“This is quite a difficult impact to predict because used electric car values are already very low but if a dealer owns a 12-month-old example of a particular model and the new version is suddenly £3,750 cheaper, it’s likely to impact on its value,” added Philip.
