Roam Charging top hotel charging network
Roam Charging is the UK’s leading charge point network for EV chargers according to data published by Zapmap (July 2026). Roam has 437 EV chargers at hotel locations across the UK and places Roam ahead of Tesla Destination Chargers, with 341 hotel-based chargers, and Project EV, with 340.
The findings come as EV charging becomes an increasingly important consideration for hotels and other accommodation providers looking to meet changing guest expectations and prepare their properties for the continued transition to electric transport.
Zapmap reports that more than 4,100 of the 120,000-plus EV chargers recorded on its platform are now associated with hotels or similar accommodation, accounting for approximately 4% of the UK’s total EV charging devices.
Government to review ZEV Mandate
According to reports in the news media, the Government is planning to review the ZEV Mandate.
Car makers via the SMMT have been lobbying hard to change the percentages required to meet the ZEV Mandate.
What does the current ZEV Mandate require?
- 33% of new car sales in 2026 to be EV;
- In 2027 this rises to 38%;
- 52% in 2028;
- 66% in 2029;
- and 80% by 2030.
In terms of bald sales figures, EVs account for some 25% of the UK new car market. However, there is a variety of elasticity in how the target is met, and strong demand for electric, driven by incentives and the growth of Chinese OEMs, suggests the ZEV Mandate target is not so far off target.
BCA opens battery repair centre
Better known for its auction sites, BCA is expanding its automotive business with a battery repair centre in Doncaster, according to a report by the SMMT.
The site offers battery repairs for EVs and hybrids entering the remarketing process, when the manufacturer warranty has expired or become invalidated. Managed by BCA Fleet Solutions, it offers services across all makes and models including diagnosis, insulation testing, module repair and replacement, casing repairs, as well as drive motor replacements.
Other services available include cellular balancing, DC charger and inverter repairs, green parts supply where available and high voltage component replacement.
