• February 2025 van registrations down 20%
  • Stellantis brand sales collapse versus 2024
  • Ford Pro outsells best-selling car in February
  • Electric van growth up

ANYONE seen a Stellantis van? We’re just asking because Stellantis has seen a stellar drop in new van registrations year-to-date. In two months, the manufacturer has lost 3,676 commercial vehicle units against the same period in 2024.

OK, it’s against an overall market that’s running down a disappointing 20% in 2025.

But even against this backdrop, the four Stellantis brands in the market – Vauxhall, Peugeot, Citroen and Fiat – all saw decreases leading to the 31% overall drop.

The lack of sales also means the group’s market share now sits at less than 24%, down from nearly 28% a year ago. And this time last year, Stellantis was nearly level-pegging Ford.

Broker News reported last month that inconsistent offers in the market were leading to mis-trust within broker businesses, in turn these firms were less likely to work with the manufacturer.

However, Stellantis is not alone in its poor performance. Mercedes and Volkswagen LCV registrations are each running down more than 30% this year and Toyota is down more than 35%.

But Ford Pro performance is on fire

There are several data points that show how well Ford’s commercial vehicle sales are going, but one of the most indicative is that the Transit Custom was the UK’s best-selling vehicle in February with 2,361 registered. It outsold the best-selling car – the MINI Cooper by around 300 units.

For some perspective, the second best-selling van was the Vauxhall Vivaro with 1,331 units registered last month. The Vivaro would not have made it into the top 10 all-vehicle sales chart.

Year-to-date, Ford has more than 36% of the new van market and in a market that’s down 20% it is up more than 4% or 490 units.

Electric van growth

The sales drop has seen OEMs concentrate on registering electric vans having failed to hit the government’s 10% mix target in 2024. February saw electric vans take 9.7% of the market, however this is still well-short of the ZEV Mandate target for 2025 of 16%.
