WAKEFIELD-BASED independent healthcare provider, Novus Health, has partnered with Glasgow’s Fleet Alliance to launch a new EV salary sacrifice scheme. This initiative aims to enhance employee benefits and provide cost-effective access to electric cars for its staff.
Founded in 2007 by a group of GP practices in the Wakefield and Five Towns area, Novus Health boasts a strong connection to the NHS, with shareholders comprising local NHS employees. The new salary sacrifice scheme is currently available to approximately 35 eligible staff members, offering a diverse range of EVs at competitive rates.
Novus Health’s Finance Director, Paul Gomersall, explained that the decision to implement the scheme followed extensive research into salary sacrifice options and a desire to expand employee benefits.
“The response to the scheme has been overwhelmingly positive,” he noted. “Our staff appreciate the significant cost advantages of EVs due to their favourable tax rates.”
To ensure effective communication and maximise employee engagement, Novus Health has utilised various channels, including its business intranet and regular email updates. Gomersall praised Fleet Alliance’s proactive approach, highlighting their launch initiatives and ongoing communication efforts, which have included comprehensive marketing packs detailing vehicle availability and rates, along with email and Dropbox resources addressing employee queries about charging options and vehicle range.
Adam Kenny, Clinical Physiotherapist and First Contact Physiotherapy Lead at Novus Health, is among the early adopters of the scheme. He’s currently driving an all-electric Mercedes EQA 250+ 140kw AMG Line Executive and has been impressed with both the vehicle and the support provided.
“This is my first electric car and my first Mercedes. I'm thoroughly enjoying the low running costs, and the fact that the car is fully maintained gives me real peace of mind. Fleet Alliance's assistance, including help with the installation of a vehicle charger, has been outstanding.”

Andy Bruce, CEO of Fleet Alliance, emphasised the growing trend of businesses embracing EVs through salary sacrifice. “These schemes offer a compelling combination of tax benefits and sustainable solutions,” he stated. “We’re seeing a significant increase in customers like Novus Health adding EVs and plug-in hybrids to their fleets to meet their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals.”
Fleet Alliance estimates that leasing an EV via their salary sacrifice scheme can result in savings of up to 50% on running costs compared to Personal Contract Hire (PCH), without impacting personal credit lines. Bruce added, “By tendering each salary sacrifice lease across a range of competitive funders, we can ensure our customers and their employees have access to the most advantageous EV options.”
