PORSCHE continues its electric revolution with the launch of the Taycan 4S. The new model joins a line-up that isn’t even on the UK’s roads yet, following on from the Taycan Turbo and Turbo S launched only last month.

The key changes are a lower price and less power, but the potential for improved range. The Taycan 4S will cover 252 miles on a charge. However, if the Performance Battery Plus is fitted – a £4,600 option – that’s boosted to 287 miles.

Performance is still plenty quick enough for most with 0-62mph covered in 4.0 seconds. Top speed is 155mph. Those figures remain the same whether buyers pick the standard Taycan 4S with 390 kW (530hp) or Performance Battery Plus version with 420 kW (571hp).

Prices start at £83,367, though the Taycan is yet to be approved for the £3,500 Plug-in Car Grant. It meets all the criteria, so a starting cost of just under £80,000 is expected by the time it reaches the UK in January 2020.
