ESSEX leasing broker Planet Leasing is one of the sponsors of a children’s charity called Sporting Bears.
The charity raises money for children’s causes through its Dream Rides and touring events put on by a dedicated group of classic car and sports car enthusiasts who form the basis of the club.
Since the charity was formed in 1989, a total of £3m has been raised.
Among the other charity supporters are Halfords and Silverstone Auctions.
Both directors of Planet Leasing, Gary Rose and Darren Nash, are keen supporters of the charity events and supercar enthusiasts, regularly taking part with their Ferrari 488 Spider (Gary) and McLaren 720S (Darren).
Club volunteers give up their time and expenses free of charge to ensure 100% of all donations goes to the supported charities.
Central to the fundraising is the Dream Rides, a 10 mile/20-minute passenger ride in exchange for a minimum donation. Dream Rides take place at over 50 events a year including CarFest, Silverstone Festival, The British Motor Show and both NEC Classic Car Shows.
Last year the club raised £300,000.
