THE Great British EV Rally is set to take place from 4th to 8th July 2022, seeing teams of drivers complete the more than 1,200 miles from John O’Groats to Lands End.

Supported by Lex Autolease and organised by GreenFleet, the event aims to showcase British EV excellence, with a variety of vehicles and drivers to complete the challenging course.

Following on from last year’s EV Rally of Scotland event, which coincided with COP26, organisers have upped the ante. Now, instead of a tour of Scotland, drivers will have to get from the top of mainland Britain to the bottom, with a number of checkpoints on the way.

Day One starts at the Castle of Mey, before heading to John O’Groats and finishing in Oban via Loch Ness for cars. The following day will finish in Cheadle with a stops at the Loch Lomond and Lake Windermere en route.

Day Three includes an EV challenge at Rockingham before reaching Milton Keynes. Day Four detours via Gridserve’s Electric Forecourt at Braintree, heading into London, and then out again to Bristol, before the final day’s stops at Cardiff Barrage, Exeter, and finally Lands End.

Commercial vehicles take a similar route in the latter stages, but end in Dundee on Day One and Leeds via the Angel of the North on Day 2.

With Lex Autolease’s strong focus on our customers’ transitioning to zero emission vehicles, the GBEV Rally is a fantastic showcase for what electric vehicles and the associated infrastructure can achieve.  The EV market is accelerating at a tremendous pace. Demonstrating these technologies and their capabilities now, helps build the confidence for others to go electric.
