BROKERS easing company directors into a Porsche Taycan may want to take note of this: Porsche has placed first in the 2021 Auto Express Driver Power Survey.
The annual review of UK car owners’ opinions has seen the Stuttgart-brand beat 28 other brands to the overall award.
Having won six of the 10 categories, Porsche scored 93% across the board in reviews of its harshest critics – the owners themselves. It is the first time that Porsche has led the way in the survey.
Considering its performance focus, there is little surprise that Porsche topped the charts in every class in the ride and handling category. It’s not just the driving experience that’s examined however, with Porsche also coming up trumps in sectors such as build quality and interior design.
Steve Fowler, editor-in-chief at Auto Express, said:
“Porsche’s set of results are nothing short of phenomenal. Taking six of our 10 category wins in our brand rundown, Porsche tops the Driver Power manufacturer table. Owners tell us their cars offer the scintillating performance and handling they might reasonably expect, but there’s far more to the ownership experience than that.
“No other firm’s cars are built as well as Porsche’s, while its cabins are second to none both in terms of design and quality. Everywhere you look, the firm impresses; from the efficacy of its safety systems to overall reliability, owners are delighted.”
Marcus Eckermann, managing director, Porsche Cars, said: “My colleagues in Porsche Cars GB and in the network of Porsche Centres can take great pride from this Driver Power result.
“The teams in Germany responsible for the design and engineering of our sports cars will also be honoured to see their hard work rated so highly, particularly to win every single field in the ride and handling category.”
Over the first six months of 2021, the electric Porsche Taycan was the fourth best-selling model worldwide in the Porsche range, just being pipped to third by the iconic 911, and has nearly equalled 2020 sales for the year at this halfway stage.
