RIVERVALE, the Brighton-based broker, has helped start the transition of ABP UK, which is part of ABP Food Group, to electric vehicles.

So far, Rivervale has converted 15% of the company’s car fleet to electric vehicles.

ABP UK originally had a diesel-only policy, but froze all orders pending a supplier review and a move to ultra low emission vehicles (ULEV).

We were nominated to supply the ABP UK fleet and transition the company’s cars to hybrid, plug-in hybrid or full electric vehicles. Analysis of the fleet and driver requirements has resulted in 15% of the fleet moving to EVs already, with many more into PHEVs and hybrid vehicles, although the transition is a continual process.

Jaymie Stanbrook, fleet manager, Rivervale Cars

Rivervale says it has used the ODO Drive fleet management platform to ensure a seamless transition for ABP UK. In particular it has helped demonstrate the lower total cost of ownership of EVs, despite a higher monthly rental cost, adds Stanbrook.

The introduction of EVs to company fleets is growing quickly as managers understand the benefits of this fuel-type. Critical to this expansion is the ability to manage both the fleet and the individual vehicles. Rivervale has partnered with DRIVE in providing ODO to its customers, such as ABP. We understand that fleet customers require increasing levels of information processing when managing fleets, particularly when these fleets are transitioning to EV. ODO is designed to do just that; providing real-time intelligence so that this transition is seamless.

Vince Pemberton, chief operating officer, Rivervale Cars

Robert Gorby, chief commercial officer at DRIVE, added:

Our relationship with Rivervale has been instrumental in the recent development of ODO. The extent of its fleet and the requirements of its customers play to the functionality of our system. Specifically, using ODO, leasing companies and fleet managers can realise fully the benefits of EV transition through the provision of ODO’s data and management information.

In the summer of 2020, Rivervale became an official retailer of Maxus electric commercial vehicles.
