ON the eve of the Euros, Select Car Leasing has decided to pinch some of the footballing limelight by announcing it is to be the new Principal Partner of Reading Football Club.

The top tier leasing broker, headquartered in Reading, is committing to a multi-year front-of-shirt sponsorship agreement, said to be a record commercial deal for the Royals.

The agreement between Select and Reading begins with the 150th anniversary campaign in 2021-22 and continues over three seasons, including the Academy side.

Money back for fans who lease from Select

Select has been a commercial partner of Reading FC since 2015, and has now agreed to give money back to the club’s Academy programme when any Royals fan leases a vehicle from the company, as well as donating match tickets to local grassroots clubs for every single home match throughout the next three seasons.

Directors of Select Car Leasing – James O’Malley and Mark Tongue – are both lifelong supporters and current season ticket holders at the club. Tongue said:

As a local company we’ve been in partnership with Reading Football Club for nearly six years now but, as fans ourselves, it’s long been an ambition and a dream of ours to have much greater involvement with the club as well as supporting the local community.

Reading FC chief executive, Dayong Pang, added:

We are very proud to be announcing this record partnership with Select Car Leasing, as we prepare to embark on our 150th anniversary campaign. Their commitment to the club has been evident for a long time and we are delighted to secure such an attractive and reputable commercial partner during what remains a very challenging time for so many businesses. I am pleased that Select will be part of the Reading Football Club family for many years to come.
