🤢 The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) Data for the August 2025 Van Market came out this week…
Another consecutive monthly decline this year. Every month this year has been negative!
There’s no momentum, no growth, just pure contraction.
Business confidence is in the gutter, operators are holding back, the squeeze is hitting across every segment in the country.
⏬ Large vans down 11.5%, still three quarters of the market but shrinking fast.
⏬ Medium vans down 14.0%, demand clearly drying up.
⏬ Small vans down 17.6%
⏬ 4x4s down 13.9%
⏬⏬ Pickup trucks absolutely hammered, collapsing 25.8% as fiscal changes stripped away their business case earlier this year.
Every single corner of the market is bleeding.
On paper, it looks catastrophic. And yet…
🤯 Vanaways had their best August on record.
The team sold 1 van every 30 minutes, smashed their targets and had amazing feedback with a shed load of 5 Star reviews and lots of repeat orders.
We’re also expanding into new locations across the UK and hiring talent to meet demand after investing a serious amount of money into new tech, new systems and new positions.
And when I speak to operators, dealers, and other van brokers, the story isn’t all doom and gloom. Most people I talk to say they had a solid August 🤯
So which is it?
❌ A collapsing market on paper?
âś… A buoyant trade on the ground?
Maybe the truth is the market is consolidating. The winners are pulling away while the rest get dragged down in the averages.
🤷♂️ Be interested to know, how was your August?
Did you feel the pain that the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) is reporting, or was it business as usual?
