Subscription success for Tesla Model 3

TESLA’S best-selling Model 3 has continued to prove its popularity, this time in the subscription car stakes, having taken the top subscription EV spot from the Polestar 2, according to Loopit’s VSU (Vehicle Subscription Utilisation) Index.

Analysis from subscription specialists Loopit shows that the Tesla saloon has ended Polestar’s 12-month reign at the top of its EV table, down primarily to strong supply and heavy discounting from the American manufacturer.

Not only that, the Nissan Leaf has overtaken the Polestar 2, indicating that value for money is a current priority for EV subscribers. This has coincided with an update for the Polestar 2, where customers will have been waiting for the newer, longer range model to arrive.

Tesla’s Model Y SUV takes fourth spot, and the Mazda MX-30 fifth, representing opposing ends of the EV range spectrum. Tesla’s Model Y – and Model 3 – offer a long driving range for customers, while the MX-30 crossover has a much shorter range, aimed primarily at local trips and short recharging times.

Of the remainder of Loopit’s top 10 only one model is not available in the UK, while there’s also a recent entrant from Chinese firm BYD.
