BROKER News only ‘soft’ launched in August 2019, but our insightful news stories and industry commentary had you clicking your mouses to gain insight into the sector.
Our most-read story of 2019 was Richmond-based Kew Vehicle Leasing’s announcement that it was going to disclose the amount of finance commission it was being paid on regulated hire agreements.
“If you look at the way Independent Financial Advisers work – disclosing the lender and the amount of commission payable on, say, a mortgage quotation – it is made quite clear the amount being paid for the service,” commented MD Lee Jones (left).
“I don’t see leasing brokers being any different – why shouldn’t we provide the same level of transparency?”
At number two was Reading-based Select Car Leasing announcing that it would be expand again with an innovative tie in with Grosvenor Leasing to supply its customers with PCH deals. Director Mark Tongue (pictured) said:
“It’s another example of how we are extending our reach with innovative plans and programmes.”
While fellow director James O’Malley added: “We are also working on additional channels that will see that number increase again significantly in 2020.”
At number 3 was Martin Brown (below left), MD of the Fleet Alliance group, who openly challenged a story we had run on the Regulatory threat to PCH on treating customers fairly (number four in our run down), making his feeling quite plain:
“All sectors are regulated equally by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and if any sector has gone above and beyond to ensure it is in order and fully compliant, then I would suggest it is the leasing brokers and the funders who operate in that leasing broker space.”
At number five was our library of downloadable content, providing leasing brokers with quality content and photographs in an SEO friendly format.
And rounding out the top six was the announcement that a new staff recruitment company – Chris Codd’s Performance Resourcing – was going to help brokers find new executives.
“I’ll be able to find you the right people to grow your business,” said Chris (pictured).
So that’s our top six. What will make it in 2020? One thing’s for certain, we’ll continue to provide content and commentary for the leasing broker sector throughout the new year. Don’t miss your weekly update of downloadable content and market news.
