- PCH enquiries shoot up by 29% year on year
- Nissan Qashqai back at number 1
- Average rental was 24 months/5,000 miles
- Vauxhall Astra a PCH leasing favourite with some hot offers
WHILE July’s private sector continued to lose market share – down 11% – at the expense of a thriving fleet and business market, there continues to be signs that interest in the PCH market is improving.
In fact, more than improving, showing sustained signs of significant uplift. Leasing.com reports that its new car enquiries up by 29% compared with the same period last year.
There’s definitely more vigour in the leasing market – partly helped by the Bank of England lowering rates which put more confidence in buyers’ pockets – see Ford sales slide continues in July.
Most consumers were drawn to PCH offers with a monthly rental of £322 over a two-year term and an annual mileage allowance of 5,000, with a wider variety of great-looking offers helping stoke interest.
“Despite the SMMT reporting an 11% decline in private new car sales in July versus July 2023, the total volume of PCH new car enquiries on Leasing.com increased by a staggering 29% compared to last July as consumers were tempted back into market by the exceptional offers available. The Nissan Qashqai reclaimed the top spot in our monthly league table, followed by the Vauxhall Corsa and Volkswagen Golf. With a variety of offers on the Vauxhall Astra, it's standing out in a busy summer market.”
Paul Harrison, Chief Partnerships Officer at Leasing.com

Market watch special: Vauxhall Astra
Vauxhall Astra: a new car market favourite, but not always a leasing market favourite. That changed in July with the introduction of some excellent PCH offers on the hatchback, estate and even the EV versions from brokers starting from just £150 per month.
