  • Electric Ford Puma Gen-E is super successful
  • Gradual decline in monthly average PCH rental as strong deals push market competitiveness
  • PCH enquiries up by 56% year-on-year

SEPTEMBER showed buoyant car sales as you might expect in the plate change month.

SMMT’s sales data demonstrated that total new car registrations had increased by 13.7%, with growth reported amongst both private and fleet buyers.

Leasing.com data was equally buoyant during September, with the total volume of personal leasing enquiries up by 56% compared to September 2024.

The leasing deal portal reported that consumer demand was stoked by incredibly appealing rentals on electric vehicles in particular.

“Our quarterly pricing visual shows how average enquired on PCH monthly rentals have gradually fallen throughout this year to £290 per month in Q3,” explained Paul Harrison, Chief Partnerships Officer (see graphic below).

“September also highlighted how new manufacturer entrants are targeting the leasing market in order to rapidly grow their market share. Both Jaecoo and BYD were amongst our top five most popular vehicles in September.”

Market watch special: Ford Puma Gen-E

While Chinese OEMs performed strongly in the Leasing.com PCH enquiry charts, the real star of September was Ford’s electric SUV, which was available from as little as £120 per month on PCH and generated huge levels of demand from private motorists. “The Ford Puma Gen-E generated some of the largest enquiry volumes we have ever seen on Leasing.com,” added Chief Partnerships Officer Paul Harrison.
