CONGRATULATIONS to Toby Poston who will be the new Chief Executive of the BVRLA, effective 01 January 2025.

Toby takes over from outgoing CEO Gerry Keaney who announced his intention to retire in June this year.

Currently the Director of Corporate Affairs, responsible for policy and public affairs, communications, events, research and fleet services, Toby has been with the association for 16 years.

During this time, he has been the association’s chief spokesperson and guided the industry’s response to a variety of challenges including Brexit, the Covid pandemic and terrorist attacks involving rental vehicles.

“Toby is uniquely placed to lead the association through the challenging times ahead,” said BVRLA Chairman, Jon Lawes. “He has piloted the transformation of its Policy and Public Affairs team and delivered a huge increase in the association’s voice of influence.

“He brings exceptional knowledge of the industry and a deep understanding of both the shared and diverse needs of our members. He impressed us with his strategic vision, passion for delivering member value and his intimate understanding of the BVRLA team.”

Writing on LinkedIn, Toby Poston announced his appointment. He said:

“I am very excited and proud to share that, from January 1st, I will assume the role of Chief Executive at BVRLA.

“I think most of you know how much respect and affection I have for the association, our members and the many industry stakeholders we work with every day.

“Getting the chance to lead our fabulous team is a privilege and a big responsibility, but something that I am 100% ready for.

“A big part of my confidence comes from knowing that I have a best-in-class group of people to work with in Amersham and an army of expert, engaged members who share our passion for the fleet and mobility services sector.

“This partnership has already achieved great things, but the challenges our industry faces keep coming…

“As I see it, my role is to continue building the reputation and capabilities of the BVRLA so that it can support members in delivering decarbonisation and responding to a fast-moving regulatory environment.

“Further change and challenge are inevitable, but I will ensure that the association is fit for the future and ready to respond.”

Prior to joining the BVRLA, Toby spent over a decade as a journalist and editor, most of it with the BBC Business & Economics Unit.
