A BROAD range of innovations has seen Vanarama, and CEO and founder Andy Alderson, shortlisted for the Go:Tech Awards 2022.

The specialist van leasing broker has been named as one of the finalists in the Fintech of the Year category, recognising Vanarama’s repeated introduction of first-in-market systems.

Alderson (pictured above) is also among the contenders for Tech Entrepreneur of the Year, while a range of Vanarama features are up for prizes.

Among the innovations introduced by Vanarama are:

  • LeaseScanner – which searches the leasing market for the best price, giving customers transparent and comparative prices.
  • Help Me Choose – a tool to guide customers to vehicles that are within their budget and suit their needs, e.g. “I want an SUV in a particular price bracket, that is available in four weeks,”.
  • AI Powered Smart Search – using machine learning to help customers find their ideal car quickly.
  • Eligibility Checker – presents customers with their “likelihood score” for credit acceptance upfront.
  • iVan, Vanarama’s chatbot – enables customers to receive a quote and order a new vehicle without human intervention via Facebook Messenger.
  • Electric Vehicle Hub – educates and responds to customers’ key concerns about this new technology.

Speaking after the shortlist was announced, Alderson said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been shortlisted in these awards, especially given the outstanding calibre of the other contenders.”

The Go:Tech Awards are run by Business Leader and are held in close collaboration with the UK’s leading business incubators, universities and technology associations. The winners of this year’s awards will be announced at a ceremony in London in May.

Technological innovation has always been central to Vanarama’s philosophy of making the customer experience as straightforward and enjoyable as possible.

We invest heavily to develop and introduce new technology but always with our customers front and centre in our minds.

To many, we’re an online vehicle leasing business but actually we’ve always really been a Fintech. To have our technology recognised alongside some very big hitters in the finance and technology industries is a fantastic achievement for my team.

Vanarama, which sponsors the Vanarama National League, attracts between 900,000 and a million visits each month, and says new car orders can be completed in two-and-a-half minutes.
