VOLVO is fitting a data SIM as standard to all new models in the UK, boosting in-car connectivity for customers.
With access to up to 100GB of data for the first year, the system will be included free of charge with all new Model Year 2020 cars going forward. It can also easily be retro-fitted to ‘MY20’ cars already with customers.
Backed by Vodafone, the integrated SIM allows for a wifi hot-spot for up to eight devices. It also makes access to apps such as Spotify, Google Local Search, and Park & Pay easier.
Real-time traffic information comes through the car’s navigation system, and connected car functionality is opened up.
For example, if a near-by Volvo’s hazard lights are triggered, or slippery surfaces encountered, alerts can be sent and received to give the driver early warning.
