RESEARCH by consumer mag What Car? says consumers are in the mood to buy new cars.
A poll found that one in five surveyed were ready for a new car.
What Car? said that of its 4411 in-market buyers, 18.39% of buyers were intending to purchase a new vehicle as soon as the Covid-19 crisis ended, while 5.56% were looking to purchase within the next four weeks.
Rachael Prasher, managing director of What Car?, added:
“We know from our weekly online audience surveys that nearly one in five car buyers are preparing to purchase a new car when showrooms reopen. That pent-up demand is great news for under-pressure retailers and manufacturers.”
Following the government statement yesterday (11 May), car dealership showrooms will not be allowed to open until 01 June.
However, the majority of dealerships are now offering car delivery, which is helping brokers clear backlogged orders.
