Winner: Kelly Marshall, Gateway2Lease

Pictured above: Kelly Marshall, Managing Director of Gateway2Lease, holds the Women in Broking Award alongside category sponsor Duncan Green of Drivalia.

About the winner:

The Women in Broking award, judged by the Broker News editorial team, is designed to raise awareness of the brilliant women we have within the broker world.

Kelly Marshall started Gateway2Lease at the age of just 22.  Over the last 16 years she has very quietly built up a hugely impressive broking business which is going from strength to strength.

What made Kelly our Women in Broking 2024 winner?

We had some brilliant contenders for the award again this year, which made choosing the winner a very tough task indeed. Ralph Morton, Editorial Director for Broker News explains why Kelly took the award:

Kelly’s story is really inspiring. To set up Gateway2Lease at such a young age is no mean feat. Kelly’s drive and the family values instilled in the business have made Gateway2Lease the success it is today.’

Kelly stood out for demonstrating excellence across a number of areas:

Building a great brokerage, based on family values

Kelly is flying the flag for female vehicle leasing broker owners – there are still only a handful led by women. Gateway2Lease was built on family values and great partnerships, Kelly started it with her father and now co-owns it with brother Rob.  Their success is evident in the business growth, and positive customer feedback.

 Equality agenda

Kelly’s focus has always been on ‘the right person for the right job’ but she has also helped drive the female agenda forwards. She was clear from the outset that she didn’t want Gateway2Lease to end up with the old broker norm of females mainly in customer service and barely represented in sales. Kelly is also keen to encourage more women into senior roles in the industry and gave this advice when we interviewed her for the Women in Broking series:

‘Don’t be phased by the fact that women business leaders are in the minority – be proud of it and use that fire in your belly to drive you forwards.’

Driving innovation and collaboration

Under Kelly’s leadership, Gateway2Lease has been pioneering cutting-edge technology to improve automation and customer satisfaction – the business also won the Best Innovation in Broking award this year. The company also has a culture of embracing partnerships to enhance its offering – including its recent partnership with The Electric Car Scheme.

What the winner said:

"It was certainly a very proud moment for me to accept the award for Women in Broking. It was great to be recognised amongst so many other talented women in our industry and to receive congratulations from people that I have huge respect for. Some really great initiatives happening in our industry at the moment, and this is one of them."
