THE leasing broker deal aggregator Leasing.com has seen a huge upswing in pure electric leasing enquiries.
The website reports that leasing enquiries for pure EVs grew an astonishing 87% in Q3 versus Q2.
The surge in EV enquiries also further hastened the demise of diesel, with pure EV sales enquiries outgunning diesel in Q3 as new car diesel demand continued its downward trend.
The most popular EVs searched were:
- Volkswagen ID.3,
- Tesla Model 3 and
- Hyundai Kona.
Paul Harrison, head of strategic partnerships at Leasing.com, commented:
Our latest data shows the rapid transition that the UK new car market is now making to net zero. Nearly a third of our total Q3 sales enquiries were for electric vehicles. Battery electric vehicles saw the fastest rate of growth and it continues to accelerate as motor manufacturers expand their offering. These figures underline the importance of the leasing sector to BEV adoption.
Harrison added that overall electrification enquiries – that’s battery electric vehicles, plug-in electric hybrids and hybrids – grew 66% in Q3 versus Q2.
Demand for electric plugins grew by 43% in Q3 with Cupra Formentor, Volvo XC40 and SEAT Leon being the most popular, while hybrids grew 51% led by Toyota RAV4, Hyundai Tucson and Toyota C-HR.
