THE national used car manager for Skoda – Barney Butterell – has joined new low cost van retailer Innovation Automotive as head of sales.
Innovation Automation debuted at the CV Show in 2021 and will initially bring in electric Chinese van brands DFSK and Skywell. These will be followed by as yet undisclosed electric car brands.
Barney first joined the Volkswagen Group as a regional sales manager in 2011, before moving to Skoda starting as an areas sales manager, then national used car development manager in 2016 before taking up the national used car manager role in 2019. He also has experience in renewables.
Innovation Automotive says it plans to deliver electric vehicles via a direct-to-consumer sales model – so potentially no leasing broker openings yet – to enable consumers to switch confidently to EVs.
We are entering an important phase in the launch of the new Innovation Automotive brand. Innovation Automotive wants to interact with its customers online and face-to-face. Barney’s experience and expertise will help us realise our objectives and lead us on the path to success.
Paul Brigden, CEO, Innovation Automation
Barney Butterell added: “The motor industry is entering the most significant and complex period of change in its history. The opportunity to join Innovation Automotive as a new, electric vehicle company is very exciting. We have some really competitive products coming to the UK, and I am looking forward to launching our first vehicles in the New Year.”
In addition to Barney’s appointment, the company has also hired Amanda Gibson (left) as its press, external affairs & sustainability manager, effective immediately. Amanda joins from Mitsubishi Motors UK, with experience as press & public relations manager, sales area manager and electric vehicle programme manager.
