TESLA’S new Cybertruck has gained more than 200,000 pre-orders from customers, having been launched just four days ago. The all-electric pick-up is expected to start around £40,000 when it goes on sale in the UK next year, though plenty of potential customers are putting their $100 deposit down already.

Featuring a range of up to 500 miles on a charge, the Cybertruck will be available in three different configurations. The headline 500 mile Tesla will feature three electric motors, be able to tow more than six tonnes, and get from 0-62mph in just 2.9 seconds.

Other variants will have either a single motor on the rear axle or twin motors for all-wheel drive. These will cover at least 250 or 300 miles respectively, and the slowest will still complete the sprint time in 6.5 seconds.

Capable of seating six, the Cybertruck will be able to be ultra-rapid charged on public and Tesla’s networks. It’s due to enter production in around a year’s time, with deliveries in the UK expected in 2021.
