HEADLINE sponsor of the BVRLA Leasing Broker Conference (21 June 2023) was the newly formed ALD | Leaseplan.
Dave McLaughlin (pictured) explained that the assimilation of ALD and Leaseplan was driven by mega trends affecting the sector.
This included the push towards zero emissions, new hybrid working dynamics, the consumer transition to usership, and different forms of modality – all of which needed scale to succeed in a global market.
We are purchasing 100,000 vehicles, which makes us relevant as a business, and also makes brokers relevant. We will have a total fleet of 330,000 vehicles and 118 brokers across the combined channel, so we will be a formidable proposition.

Brokers needn’t have worried.
Mike Thompson explained that there was a €400m investment to drive a digital transformation of the business.
Mike added that this would give an enhanced customer experience by digitising the customer journey and eliminating manual broker systems.
Brokers will be the first to get the new system, which is in the final stages of testing. And brokers are the key to our growth strategy. The new platform will unlock new opportunities.
