SPORTS car maker Lotus has decided to return to a franchised model following two years operating under agency, according to a report in Auto Retail Agenda.

The switch back to a retail sales model had begun in November last year and has been operational since 01 June.

According to Auto Retail Agenda, the reason for exiting agency was due to systems disruptions which had led to extended delivery times and falling customer satisfaction.

Lotus has become more important to leasing brokers since the launch of the all-electric Lotus Eletre performance SUV.

Other brands that have stepped away from agency include JLR and Ford, along with the Stellantis brands and Audi.

BMW meanwhile recently confirmed it would continue down the agency route.
