PEUGEOT, Citroen, and Vauxhall have revealed that their medium van challengers are to go electric. All coming from the PSA Group, the e-Expert, Vivaro-e, and Dispatch Electric respectively will share a platform and powertrain.

Two battery sizes will be on offer, with a 50 kWh pack offering 124 miles on a charge, and a 75 kWh battery good for 186 electric miles. Electric models share identical load spaces with diesel-powered versions.

Payloads have not been confirmed, but are promised to be similar to the 1,400kg available from conventional models. Likewise, motor power and performance figures have not been revealed yet, but expect competitive statistics when compared to diesel vans.

With increased focus on inner-city air quality and the issues diesel can cause, electric vans will have a large part to play for many drivers. All three companies are rapidly expanding their electric line-ups, with Citroen now offering three electric vans, and Peugeot have two models.
