THE rapidly growing EV market is causing distribution issues, says Birmingham-based DMN Logistics.
The UK-wide vehicle inspection and vehicle movement specialist says that the heavier vehicles require transporters that can safely and legally carry the additional weight.
For example, the Audi e-tron Sportback 50 quattro weighs 2445kg and the BMW i7 xDrive60 weighs in not far short of three tonnes at 2715 kg.
To give some perspective a VW Golf Mk8 weighs 1280 kg (source: ultimatespecs) while a Volkswagen ID.3 Pro Performance weighs in at 1812 kg (source Electric Vehicle Database).
Last year DMN Logistics upped its fleet to include a 7.2t Iveco car transporter coupled with a 3.5t Brian James trailer. It has now purchased two 4X4 trucks and a further two Brian James trailers, one of which is pictured above.
We’ve seen a huge increase in demand for our full range of logistical solutions especially when it comes to moving EVs as they have specific transporting requirements.

Nick added:
“The 4×4 pick up truck plus 3.5t trailer configuration allows for a higher weight to be carried, including commercial EVs.
“We are continually developing solutions for road-driven EVs and this further addition will add value to long-range deliveries where re-charging multiple times may not be an option. Increasingly our clients expect UK-wide logistical coverage, transporting a range of ICE and EV vehicles, which in the past would have proved difficult to do but now we have a viable solution.”
