THOSE who remembered Brian Hilliard’s brilliant and highly entertaining conference speech last year will be delighted to learn that Societe Generale’s chief UK economist is coming back for more.

Brian Hilliard will be speaking at the 2023 Leasing Broker Conference about the outlook for the current economic landscape and what the key trends and developments will be as we go into 2024 and explore how things have changed since October’s event.

A highly experienced economist, Brian’s insights and expertise will help leasing brokers make sense of what is going on and understand what that means for them.

Brian joined Societe Generale in 1990 from Westpac Banking Corporation Europe where he was head of economics and market research from 1980. Previously, he was a research economist within the Monetary Policy Group of the Bank of England having been a lecturer in macroeconomics at the University of Manchester.

He also has experience as a commodity analyst with the Commodities Research Unit (CRU). Brian holds a Ph D in Economics from the University of Southampton and a degree in Economics with Statistics from the University of Bristol.

After his spot at October’s conference was driven by the fallout from the ‘mini budget’ delivered under Liz Truss, June’s update is expected to reflect a steadier, yet still highly challenging, picture. After a short presentation and analysis of what the numbers are showing us, BVRLA leasing brokers in attendance will have the chance to put questions to Brian directly.

Taking place in central Birmingham this June, the BVRLA’s Leasing Broker Conference 2023 will bring together over 150 leasing brokers from across the association’s membership.

The BVRLA says it presents the ideal opportunity to hear from industry experts, share ideas and common issues being faced, and network with like-minded professionals.

Tickets are free to BVRLA leasing broker members and must be reserved in advance. Tickets can be secured via the BVRLA website.

Broker News is a partner of the conference event.
