All change in the retail sector
OUT of the blue yesterday came the announcement that Constellation had offered to buy car retailing group Marshall of Cambridge
It’s certainly a big move by the owners of BCA, Cinch and We Buy Any Car as it manoeuvres for position with the likes of Cazoo and Carzam, which itself secured £112m of new funding, in the online car retail sector.
While leasing brokers have nothing to fear immediately, these significantly well-funded online operations will potentially attract customers away from the broker market, particularly during a period when OEM discounts have been withdrawn. It’s a space worth watching with interest.
