GOFOR is managing a new electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme for Penderyn Distillery, a whisky distillery in Wales.
Penderyn Distillery is the home of the Welsh Whisky Company, which produces whiskies and spirits across two sites in the Brecon Beacons.
The distillery already has a strong sustainability ethos. It has installed free on-site electric vehicle (EV) charging for its staff, for example.
Penderyn Distillery says the creation of the new salary sacrifice scheme by the Edinburgh based broker and fleet management business was the logical next step to encourage more employees into electric vehicles.
We are committed to encouraging green driving but providing electric charging is only the first step. This salary sacrifice scheme means all our employees can not only personally benefit but help us deliver on our net zero ambition.
Stephen David, chief executive, Penderyn Distillery Tweet
The salary sacrifice scheme was negotiated by Gofor’s operational growth manager Michael Hook and has been designed to suit Penderyn’s specific objectives.
The goal was to make the switch to electric as simple and affordable as possible and remove any early termination risk through vehicle reallocation support. Michael says that Gofor has already delivered the first electric vehicles to Penderyn.
We are delighted to be partnering with Penderyn as they move towards a decarbonised fleet. We’ll be working closely with the team to ensure the scheme is fully embedded to encourage further employees to make the switch to an electric vehicle. Salary sacrifice is such a great way of getting an EV at an affordable price. We’re seeing very high demand for the scheme right now.
Graham Lesslie, managing director, Gofor Tweet
The British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) reports that salary sacrifice is currently the fastest growing funding method in the UK.
Gofor has recently rebranded, removing ‘finance’ from its name to better reflect the full end-to-end fleet management service the business provides. A new website was also launched in February as part of the rebranding and repositioning project.
