Broker News Awards shapes up with Arval UK support

If you haven’t thought about entering the Broker News Awards 2023, then start to get yourself organised. We’ve got strong support already, and the first of our sponsors has been announced – thank you to Arval UK for their enthusiastic backing. We’ll be announcing more in the next few weeks.

Leasing and the cost of EVs

Transport & Environment, a European clean transport pressure group, can sometimes produce the oddest of press releases. You may have seen the headlines in the press about the high price of leasing EVs today – essentially suggesting that leasecos were profiteering thanks to strong EVs on electric cars.

I’m not sure that entirely tallies with my perception of what is happening in the UK, where latest cap hpi data suggests that lower medium EVs, for example, are down -3.5% against a market segment that’s up +3.8%.

The BVRLA’s Toby Poston has rightly taken them to task, saying: “Vehicle leasing companies have led the charge in bringing battery electric vehicles (BEVs) to market. The accusations levelled by T&E show little understanding of how this market operates.” Quite.
